  • Commissioned USS Cheyenne 30 July 1898, Lieutnant G. H. Swan commanding
  • Assigned to Naval Auxiliary Force, operated off Florida coast, July-August 1898
  • Decommissioned at Port Royal, SC, 29 August 1898
  • Sold to G.D. Kuper & Bros., New York, NY for $1690 and renamed Jacob Kuper, 14 November 1900
  • Final disposition, burned and sank after boiler exploded off Robbins Reef, NY, 13 August 1902
    1. DANFS misspells the builder as "Sam Paegnell," one of many small errors being perpetuating as Wikipedia uses it as a primary source.
