  • Built in 1918 as War Harp by the Great Lakes Engineering Works, Ecorse, MI for the Cunard Steamship Co., Ltd., agent for the Shipping Controller, London, England
  • Requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board under the Urgent Deficiencies Act of 13 June 1917
  • Launched 4 July 1918
  • Acquired by the Navy 15 August 1918 at Montreal, Canada and commissioned USS Lake Silver the same day
  • Decommissioned 21 July 1919 at New York and returned to the United States Shipping Board
  • Sold for scrap in 1926 to the Ford Motor Co of River Rouge, MI.

    Specifications:

  • Length 261'
  • Beam 43' 6"
  • Draft 19' 6"
  • Speed 11 kts.
  • Complement 52
  • Armament: One 3"/50 mount
  • Propulsion: Two single ended boilers, one 1,300hp vertical triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
