Light House Tender:

  • Built as George W. Beale in 1879 at East Deering, Maine
  • Acquired by the Light House Service 12 June 1888 and commissioned USLHT Gardenia
  • Laid up 11 February - 30 April 1890 to replace boiler
  • Laid up in 1917
  • Acquired by the Navy 4 May 1917
  • Commissioned USS Gardenia 13 September 1917 at New York, NY
  • Returned to the Lighthouse Service on 1 July 1919
  • Condemned and sold 19 September 1919
  • Fate unknown.
