William F. Green served both the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard


Schooner Barge:

  • Built in 1879 at Ellsworth, ME
  • Acquired by the Navy 12 September 1918 from J. W. Williams at Boston, MA and placed in service as USS William F. Green (ID 3664)
  • Rebuilt in 1918 at Lawley Shipyard, Neponset, MA
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard 7 May 1920 and renamed USCGC Green and used as station ship at New York
  • Surveyed and condemned 23 January 1922
  • Sold 1 May 1922 at the Coast Guard Depot Curtis Bay, MD to the Arundel Engineering Co. of Arundle Cove, MD for $30.00
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 10' 4½"
  • Complement: Eight (1907)
  • Non-self propelled.
