Ammunition Lighter:

  • The third Hercules was built in 1906 by Kelly, Spear and Co., Bath, ME
  • Acquired by the Navy in 1918 from the Boston Sand and Gravel Co. and placed in service as Hercules (ID 3190)
  • Renamed Ammunition Lighter No. 30 in 1920
  • Designated YE-30 later in the year
  • Placed out of service 2 August 1922 and struck from the Navy list
  • Sold 24 March 1923 to Charles Reineke of New York City
  • Registered in 1927 to the Atlantic Coast Sand Co. of New York, NY as the freight barge Hercules
  • Abandoned in 1940.
