Clifton (SP 2080)


Freight Boat:

  • The second Clifton was built in 1915 as M. B. Clifton by L. Johnson, Crittenden, VA
  • Acquired by the Navy in August 1917 from the Commonwealth of Virginia's Fish Commission
  • Commissioned USS Clifton (ID 2080), 6 August 1917
  • Delivered to the Navy 7 August 1917
  • She probably served in Virginia waters for most of World War I
  • Struck from the Navy Register 22 October 1918 and was returned to her owners
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 22 t.
  • Length 55' 4"
  • Beam 15' 7"
  • Complement: Seven.
