SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 24 July 1943 by the Daytona Beach Boat Works, Inc., Daytona Beach, FL
  • Launched 30 November 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1485, 31 May 1944
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 8 July 1944 and reclassified BO-229
  • Placed in service in August 1944
  • Torpedoed and sunk 7 December 1944 in the Barents Sea off Kildin Island by the German submarine U-997
