SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 7 September 1942 as PC-1326 by the Delaware Bay Shipbuilding Co., Leesburg, NJ
  • Launched 24 February 1943
  • Reclassified SC-1326 in April 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1326, 4 May 1943
  • Participated in the invasion of Guam in June 1944
  • Reclassified as a Control Submarine Chaser, SCC-1326, 8 August 1945
  • Grounded at Okinawa 9 October 1945 during Typhoon Louise
  • Refloated and decommissioned 1 January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 12 March 1946
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission 16 December 1946
  • Acquired in 1947 by Sam Rubenstein of Seldovia, AK for use as a freighter and named Einstoss 15
  • Acquired in 1949 by Seldovia Bay Packing Co. of Seldovia and renamed Alice T
  • Stranded 5 August 1952 on the northwest coast of Perl Island, Chugach Passage, about 30 miles from Seldovia.

  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 15.6 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "K Guns," two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails with four 7.2 projectiles and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
