SC-685 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union.

SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 9 July 1942 as PC-685 by the American Cruiser Co., Trenton, MI
  • Launched 25 March 1943
  • Reclassified SC-685 in April 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-685, 25 May 1943
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 19 July 1945 and reclassified BO-302
  • Assigned to the Pacific Fleet 30 July 1945
  • Participated in the liberation of South Sakhalin Island, Japan in August 1945
  • Sank 18 December 1947 after grounding on rocks in the Bay of Krillon
  • Raised 24 December 1947
  • Sank 28 February 1948 while under tow.

  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.

  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "Y Gun," and two depth charge tracks
