Sea Scout served both the U. S. Coast Guard and Navy.

Coastal Patrol Yacht:

  • Built in 1922 as the yacht Velero II by William Muller of Wilmington, CA expressly for Captain Alan Hancock, an early benefactor of the University of Southern California
  • Acquired by the Navy from the Coast Guard 24 December 1942
  • Commissioned USS Sea Scout (PYc-43), 15 March 1943
  • Decommissioned 15 May 1944
  • Laid up 17 July 1944 at Frontier Base, San Diego, CA
  • Struck from the Naval Register 14 October 1944
  • Transferred to the War Shipping Administration 6 April 1945 for disposal and sold to her former owners, Velero II, Inc. and renamed Velero II
  • Fate unknown.
