Patrol Yacht:

  • The third Restless was built in 1887 by Houston and Woodbridge, Chester, PA
  • Acquired by the Navy 22 April 1898
  • Commissioned 14 May 1898 at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY
  • Decommissioned 1 September 1898 and placed in reserve
  • Placed in service in 1902 as a tender to the receiving ship Franklin
  • Placed out of service 17 May 1907 and laid up in reserve
  • Placed in service in January 1911 for duty at Newport, RI
  • Struck from the Navy list 5 September 1913 and sold for scrap the same day to M. Briggs, Inc.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 158 t.
  • Length 115' 6"
  • Beam 16'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 13 kts.
  • Complement 33
  • Armament: Six 6-pounders, and two 6mm machine guns
  • Propulsion: One Mosher boiler, one 500hp triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
