PGM-31 served the Navies of the United States and the Republic of China

PGM-9 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down 18 July 1944 as PC-1567 by the Leathem D. Smith Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI
  • Reclassified as a Motor Gunboat, PGM-31, 16 August 1944
  • Launched 23 September 1944
  • Commissioned USS PGM-31, 17 January 1945
  • Participated in Operation Crossroads in 1946
  • Placed in service in January 1947 as a Naval Reserve training ship assigned the the 8th Naval District (New Orleans)
  • Transferred to the Republic of China in March 1954 and named Chu Kiang (P 117)
  • Dropped from Jane's Fighting Ships in 1982
  • Fate unknown.
