Manileno


Manileno served the Navies of Spain and the United States

Gunboat:

  • The first Manileno was built in 1887 for the Spanish Navy by Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Co., Hong Kong, British Crown Colony
  • Acquired by the Navy in 1899
  • Commissioned USS Manileno 26 May 1899 at Manila, Philippines
  • Decommissioned 31 October 1900 at Cavite
  • Struck from the Navy list 11 February 1905
  • Sold 8 June 1906
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 142 t.
  • Length 105'
  • Beam 18'
  • Draft 5' 10"
  • Speed 6.5 kts.
  • Complement 27
  • Armament: One 6-pounder, two 37mm mounts, one Colt machine gun and two Gatling guns, later one 1-pounder
  • Propulsion: One vertical compound steam engine, one shaft.
