  • Laid down in June 1894 by Whampoa Dock Co., Hong Kong, China for the Spanish Navy
  • Launched in June 1896

  • Captured by the U.S. Army at Manila, Philippines in 1898
  • Acquired by the Navy 21 February 1900
  • Commissioned USS Quiros (Gunboat No. 40), 5 March 1900 at Cavite Navy Yard, Philippines

  • Designated PG-40, 17 July 1920
  • Decommissioned 10 August 1923 at Shanghai, China
