Sandusky served the Navies of the United States, the Soviet Union and Japan

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as a Patrol Gunboat, PG-162
  • Redesignated a Patrol Frigate, PF-54, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down 8 July 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract by Froemming Brothers Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Launched 5 October 1943
  • Commissioned USS Sandusky (PF-54), 18 April 1944 at New Orleans, LA
  • Decommissioned 12 July 1945 at Cold Harbor, Alaska
  • Transferred under the Lend-Lease Program 13 July 1945 to the Soviet Union and renamed EK-7
  • Assigned to the Pacific Fleet 23 July 1945
  • Participated in the landing of the landing in Yuki (Ungi), Japan 12 August 1945
  • Returned to U.S. custody 15 November 1949 at Yokosuka, Japan and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet at Yokosuka
  • Transferred on loan to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) 26 February 1953 and renamed Nire (PF 287)
  • Struck From the Naval Register 1 December 1961
  • Transferred outright to Japan 28 August 1962
  • Reclassified as a Auxiliary Stock Craft, YAC-19, 31 March 1969
  • Decommissioned by JMSDF 31 March 1970
  • Returned to U.S. custody 9 June 1977
  • Fate unknown.
