PC-1626 served the Navies of The Netherlands and Italy.

PC-1604 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down in July 1955 as PC-1626 at Breda Marghera C.N., Mestre, Venice, Italy
  • Launched 31 July 1954
  • Delivered 2 October 1956, transferred to The Netherlands and named Lynx (F 823)
  • Transferred to Italy and renamed Aquila (F 542), 18 October 1961
  • Struck from the Navy Register in 1991
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 800 t. (sl), 950 t. (fl)
  • Length 250' 5"
  • Beam 31' 8"
  • Draft 9' 2"
  • Speed 19 kts.
  • Complement 100
  • Armament: Four 40mm mounts, two Mk 11 Hedgehogs, four Menon ASW mortars (later replaced by six 12.75' ASW torpedo tubes and one depth charge rack
  • Propulsion: Two 5,200bhp Fiat diesel engines, two shafts.
