PC-1232 served the Navies of the United States and the Republic of China.

PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 8 September 1942 by the Sullivan Dry Dock and Repair Co., Brooklyn, NY
  • Launched 12 December 1942
  • Commissioned USS PC-1232, 18 August 1943
  • Assigned to the European theater during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy
  • Decommissioned 15 August 1946
  • Placed in service in January 1947 as a Naval Reserve training vessel assigned to the 4th Naval District (Philadelphia)
  • Placed out of service 19 May 1954
  • Transfered to the Republic of China in June 1954 and named Chang Kiang (PC 118)
  • Sunk by Mainland Chinese Forces 6 August 1965 south of Quemoy Island
  • PC-1232 earned one battle star for World War II service.
