PC-1185 served the Navies of the United States and Thailand

PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 26 March 1943 by the Gibbs Gas Engine Co., Jacksonville, FL
  • Launched 27 August 1943
  • Commissioned USS PC-1185, 24 April 1944
  • Transferred to the War Shipping Administration 8 June 1948
  • Sold to Thailand in 1952 and named HTMS Phali (PC 4)
  • Decommissioned 30 September 1992 and sunk as a target.

  • Length 173' 8"
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 19 kts.
  • Complement 65
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount, two 20mm guns, two depth charge projectors, two depth charge tracks, two Mk32 MOD 3 single tube anti-submarine torpedos and two Mk20 Mousetrap rocket launchers
  • Propulsion: Two 2,560bhp Hooven-Owen-Rentschler RB-99DA diesel engines, Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
