PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 21 February 1942 at Albina Engine and Machine Works Inc., Portland, Oregon
  • Launched 15 July 1942
  • Commissioned USS PC-582, 22 October 1942
  • Damaged by grounding 12 July 1945 in Maglagabon Bay, Samar, Philippines
  • Reclassified as a Control Submarine Chaser, PCC-582, 29 August 1945
  • Decommissioned 1 February 1950 at Green Cove Springs, Florida and laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Florida Group, Green Cove Springs
  • Recommissioned 3 October 1952
  • Decommissioned 15 January 1955 at Green Cove Springs and again laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Florida Group, Green Cove Springs
  • Reclassified as a Submarine Chaser, PC-582, 27 October 1955
  • Named Lenoir 15 February 1956
  • Transferred to Venezuela and renamed Albatross (P 04)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 1 July 1960
  • Struck from Venezuelan Register in 1978
  • Fate unknown
  • PC-582 received two battle stars for World War II service.

  • Propulsion: Two 2,880bhp Fairbanks Morse 38D8 1/8 diesel engines (Serial No. 832373 and 832374), Westinghouse single reduction gear, two shafts.
