YMS-295 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union

YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 10 July 1943 by the Associated Shipbuilders, Seattle, WA
  • Launched 11 August 1943
  • Completed and delivered 9 November 1943
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 19 July 1945 and reclassified T-599
  • Assigned to the Pacific Fleet 1 August 1945
  • Participated in the landings at Otomari (Korsakov), Japan 25 August 1945
  • Sunk in the Sea of Japan between 28 - 30 June 1956 in agreement with the United States
  • Struck from the Navy Register 29 October 1956.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
