BYMS-13 was built for Great Britain and served the Navies of Great Britain and Egypt.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

,li>Laid down 4 March 1942 as BYMS-13 by Associated Shipbuilders, Seattle, WA

  • Launched 27 May 1942
  • Completed 29 October 1942
  • Transferred to Great Britain 30 October 1942 and reclassified HMS J-813
  • Reclassified HMS BYMS-2013
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in May 1947, sold to Egypt and named Gaza
  • Returned to U.S. custody 6 June 1947
  • Struck from the Naval Register 10 June 1947
  • Destroyed by fire 26 July 1950 after a fuel tank explosion off Mersa Matruh, Egypt.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
