YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • The fifth Albatross was laid down 27 June 1941 as YMS-80 by the Stadium Yacht Basin, Inc., Cleveland, OH
  • Launched 5 May 1942
  • Commissioned USS YMS-80, 15 July 1942
  • Named Albatross and reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper, AMS-1, 18 August 1947
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists reclassification date as February 1947
  • Reclassified as an Experimental Motor Minesweeper, EAMS-1, 7 February 1955
  • Reclassified as an Experimental Coastal Minesweeper (Old), EMSC(O)-1, 10 February 1955
  • Decommissioned, struck from the Naval Register 20 March 1958 at Green Cove Springs, FL and laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Florida Group
  • Sold 19 February 1959 to Dorado Inc. of Wildwood, NJ and renamed Dorado
  • Fate unknown.
