MSI-90 was built in Belgium

MSI-1 Class Inshore Minesweeper:

  • Laid down as MSI-90 by the Mercantile Marine Yard, Kruibeke, Belgium
  • Delivered 14 October 1957
  • Commissioned RBNS Herstal (M 478)
  • Converted to a survey ship in 1970
  • Decommissioned and struck from the Naval Register in 1991
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 21
  • Armament: One twin 20mm Oerliken mount
  • One Mercedes Benz V12 700kw magnetic pulse generator and two 6-cylinder Gardiner 60kw diesel generators
  • Propulsion: Two 700kw Mercedes Benz V12 diesel engines, two shafts.
