MSC-172 Class Coastal Minesweeper:

  • Built under the off-shore procurement plan of the Military Defense Assistance Pact and based on the design of the British "Ton" Class Coastal Minesweeper
  • Built by De Noord, Alblasserdam, Netherlands
  • Laid down as AMS-184, 01 February 1955
  • Reclassified by U. S. Navy as a Coastal Minesweeper MSC-184, 07 February 1955
  • Launched, 08 May 1956
  • Completed, 15 October 1956
  • Commissioned Hoogeveen (M 827), 02 November 1956
  • Struck from operational status, 03 December 1996
  • Donated to the Stichting Vrienden van de Koninklijke Marine [Friends of the Royal Navy Foundation] (VVKM), 1999
  • Owners eventually went bankrupt and vessel deteriorated
  • Final disposition, towed from Museumhaven Willemsoord for transport to Rotterdam for breaking up, 08 October 2024
