BAM-9 served the Navies of Great Britain and Turkey.

Catherine Class/Auk Class Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 11 April 1942 as BAM-9 by Associated Shipbuilders, Seattle, WA
  • Launched 7 September 1942
  • Completed 8 July 1943 and transferred to Great Britain
  • Delivered 7 September 1943 and commissioned HMS Catherine (J 12)
  • Returned to U.S. custody in 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 13 December 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in January 1947, sold to Turkey and renamed TCG Erdemli
  • Struck from the Turkish Navy list in 1963
  • Fate unknown.

  • Speed 14.8 kts.
  • Complement 104
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two twin 40mm gun mounts, two 20mm gun mounts, two dcpth charge tracks and five depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 1,710shp Cooper Bessemer GSB-8 diesel engines, National Supply Co. single reduction gear, two shafts.
