Royal Navy HistoryParticipated in the Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and Normandy operation (MacDermott Ships Without Names) HM LST-420 was sunk by a mine in the English Channel, 7 November 1944, while ferrying RAF personnel to Belgium, but was unable to enter the port of Ostend due to adverse weather. On returning to England, she struck a mine. Dead crew and RAF passengers are buried at Ostend and Blankenberge cemeteries, Belgium.
