In the assault area the 262nd Flotilla's maintenance party under a Chief E.R.A. found themselves up against grave difficulties. No provision had been made for their accommodation.or victualing, nor were there sufficient tools and spares for the party to use. After four weeks of limited usefulness the party were returned early in July in order to form an all Canadian Craft Maintenance Pool with the other two flotilla maintenance parties when the Canadian LCI's were reorganized into a pool under the direction of Lieutenant Commander Huston.

Canadian parties did not service Canadian LCI's only but looked after any landing craft which came along in need of their services. Their work was highly commended by the Staff of the Commodore Landing Craft Bases, whose responsibility it was to see that Landing Craft were kept operational.
