Commander Tasin was raised in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and attended Arizona State University for one year before gaining acceptance to the United States Naval Academy. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his commission in 1997.
His first tour of duty was aboard USS ANTIETAM (CG54), where he served as the Strike Officer. In July 1999, he reported to Nuclear Power School in Charleston, South Carolina and then subsequently to Nuclear prototype in Balston Spa, New York.
November 2000, CDR Tasin reported to USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN74) and served as the Reactor Controls Division Officer. In November 2002, CDR Tasin reported to shore duty as the lead Tomahawk Missile Instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center, Pacific. While assigned to FCTCPAC, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.
Upon completion of department head school, CDR Tasin reported to USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD52) as the First Lieutenant. USS PEARL HARBOR
deployed to the Northern Arabian Gulf in support of oil platform defense and was the first ship on station to provide relief supplies to
the nation of Pakistan after the 2005 earthquake.
In March 2007, CDR Tasin reported to USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN76) where he served as the Main Propulsion Assistant and completed an extended deployment in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon completion of this tour, he reported to Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific, Force Nuclear Propulsion where he was assigned as the Executive Officer for the unit’s Mobile Training Team which conducted inspections of the Reactor departments of all Pacific coast aircraft carriers.
His Executive Officer tour was completed in USS COMSTOCK (LSD45) from December 2010 to October 2012 where the ship deployed to the Fifth Fleet operation area. After completion of this tour, CDR Tasin reported to Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific where he served as the Deputy Force Nuclear Propulsion Officer.
CDR Tasin’s awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, five Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals and various unit and
service awards.
