At sea, Commander Stevens completed his division officer tours aboard the amphibious flagship USS BATAAN (LHD 5) as the Interior Communications Officer and then aboard USS MAHAN (DDG 72) as the CIC Officer. During these sea tours he made two deployments, first to the Mediterranean and Red Seas and then deployed to the Arabian Gulf while augmenting Destroyer Squadron TWO SIX. CDR Stevens served his Department Head tours in USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49), USS JUNEAU (LPD 10), and USS DENVER (LPD 9) as the Operations Officer. He also served on two permanently embarked afloat staffs, first in Task Force SEVENTY as Korea Exercises and Plans Officer and then in SEVENTH Fleet as the Fleet Maintenance Officer.
Ashore, Commander Stevens served as an Operational Test Director aboard Operational Test and Evaluation Forces staff and also earned a Master's of Science in Management-Acquisitions and Contract Management from Florida Institute of Technology. Following his department head tours, CDR Stevens attended the Air Force Air Command and Staff College, completing the Resident Program for Joint Professional Military Education while also earning a Master’s in Foreign Affairs and Strategic Studies. Most recently he served in USS GERMANTOWN as the Executive Officer and is now serving as the Commanding Officer.
Commander Stevens’ personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Stars) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as well as various unit and campaign service medals and ribbons.
