Bark:
  • Built in 1856 at Newcastle Delaware
  • Captured, 12 June 1863 by the brig Clarence, under LT. Charles William Read, CSN
  • Lieutenant Read, finding Tacony a better vessel than his own, transferred his force to her and burned Clarence
  • Now called Florida No. 2 by her captors, Tacony sailed northward along the New England coast to harass Union shipping.
  • Tacony captured 15 vessels from 12 June to 24 June
  • On 24 June she captured schooner Archer
  • With an intensive search under way by the U.S. Navy, LT. Read transferred his force to Archer and burned Tacony, 25 June 1863
