  • Built in 1985 by American Ship Building Co., Tampa, FL. for Ocean Product Tankers of Houston, Texas, (Wilmington Trust Co.) for long-term lease to MSC
  • Delivered, 7 July 1985, and placed in service by the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as MV Paul Buck (AOT-1122)
  • Purchases by the US Navy from Ocean Carriers in 2003, redesignated USNS Paul Buck (T-AOT-1122)
  • Returned to the Maritime Administration, 30 October 2010, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Beaumont, TX.

    99k USCGC Polar Sea (WAGB-11) moored outboard of USNS Paul Buck (T-AOT-1122) as Paul Buck offloads fuel stores for the station, at McMurdo, Antarctica, 3 February 2007, as part of Operation DeepFreeze. Polar Sea had been in the area since the beginning of January to break the ice and clear a navigable channel for support ships.
