  • Delivered for commercial service, 30 June 1979, to Wilh. Wilhelmsen Line (Barber Steamship Lines Ship Management Co.)
  • Sold by Barber Steamship Lines, in December 1986 to the US Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration
  • Renamed MV Cape Horn
  • Assigned to the Maritime Administration's Ready Reserve Force as MV Cape Horn (AKR-5068)
  • When activated MV Cape Horn (AKR-5068) is assigned to the US Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) as one of the Maritime Administrations 31 Roll-on/Roll-off Reserve Force Ships assigned to MSC
  • MV Cape Horn is assigned to the MSC Pacific Strategic Sealift Force and is berthed at Pier 50, San Francisco, CA. in ROS-5 status

    215k A U.S. Army stevedore directs a tractor trailer down the ramp of the Ready Reserve Force ship MV Cape Horn (T-AKR-5068) at a port facility in the Persian Gulf, 19 October 1994. Army stevedores from the 567th Transportation Company, Ft. Eustis, VA. were flown to the region to download the equipment from the ships in preparation for Operation Vigilant Warrior, (October 8-December 22, 1994) the U.S. Armed Forces response to aggressive Iraqi actions towards Kuwait, 19 October 19, 1994.
