  • Laid down, 28 December 1944, as a Maritime Commission type (C1-M-AV1) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2169), at Leathem D. Smith Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI.
  • Launched, 13 March 1945
  • Acquired by the US Navy, 7 September 1945
  • Commissioned, USS Tipton (AK-215), 9 October 1945, LCDR. H. E. Gray, USCGR, in command
  • Decommissioned, 4 March 1946 and commissioned into the US Coast Guard the same day as USCGC Unalga (WAK-185)
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 20 March 1946
  • Laid up, 1 June 1950, in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Olympia, WA.
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 6 January 1971, to Marine Power & Equipment Co., Inc., delivered 1 February 1971
