HMS Inglis (K.570) Building and Operational Data:
  • 25 September 1943: Keel laid by the Boston Navy Yard, Charlestown, Mass.
  • 02 November 1943: Launched
  • 12 January 1944: Transferred to Great Britain as Lend-Lease, named HMS Inglis (K.570)
  • 20 March 1946: Returned to U.S. Navy custody
  • .. September 1947: Sold for scrapping to C. B. Baldridge, Bay, Ohio

    Inglis 42k I have just picked up this postcard/picture of HMS Inglis (K.570) from a Portsmouth shop. The back of the card reads Inglis 2/46 in pencil. I would imagine that it was taken just before her return to the United States. By the look of it she is just entering or leaving harbour. I look out for these pictures as my Dad served on HMS Byron (K.508) from 1943 to her return to the U.S. in 1945. The company that had the copyright on the picture has long gone. Allan Holderness
