Overview: Library of Congress Index

The Library of Congress has a huge Collection of pictures available online. Some of these pictures (especially those from the Detroit Publishing Company Collection) show ships of the US Navy. Of course such a huge Collection could be accessed only by some database, but for browsing through the pictures a format like the one used at Navsource is much more convenient. So we supply here an alternative approach to get at these pictures.

For some ships (especially those that served in the Spanish American War of 1898) exists a lot of pictures, so their Index was divided into several files. For others only a few pictures are present in the Library of Congress.
For US Battleships the Library of Congress Indexes are completed. For Ships not found in the following list no pictures were found at the Online Collection of the Library of Congress.
